Supply Chain Manager -Interim

Horizon is now recruiting for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to provide leadership to Global Purchasing, Inventory Management and Customer Logistics functions of the business, in order to ensure optimum levels of quality, efficiency and cost control, meeting the immediate and future business needs of the company.

The Supply Chain Manager will review the current supply chain operations and practices, with a view to identifying improvement opportunities and deliver these into the business, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders and supply chain teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • To work closely with stakeholders across the group in order to develop and implement supply chain strategies
  • Developing risk mitigation strategies to ensure security of supply, strengthen the supply chain network across the group, improving efficiencies and develop cost savings
  • Development and governance of procurement policies and procedures, driving quality and compliance through the group
  • Working closely with scientific operations teams on managing inventory levels to improve demand and supply planning accuracy and cost control
  • Manage, support and develop the Purchasing and Customer Logistics teams, enhancing individual and team performance and logistics quality, capability and efficiency
  • Help develop the supply chain infrastructure so teams are capable of supporting the future ever-changing business requirements

Knowledge and additional skills:

  • Experienced professional with a strong back ground in supply chain ideally within scientific industry
  • Experience of working with materials, purchasing and stores functions
  • Excellent stakeholder management & the ability to influence at all levels
  • A team player with strong interpersonal, motivational, communication and organisational skills are essential
  • A change agent able to demonstrate previous experience of process improvement across a cross functional team
  • Microsoft Dynamics ERP experience advantageous


  • CIPS, APICS or similar
  • Scientific degree in Biology or similar

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines, be well organized, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
