HD1712 - Assay and Screening -Team Leader Immunology

Horizon has a track record of developing and delivering high quality cell based assay data for biotech and pharma clients.  As a result of ongoing growth within the Assays and Screening group, the post-holder will be responsible for the team of scientists providing this service to support the drug discovery programmes of clients throughout the pre-clinical process. 

As the Manager for the team, you will:

  • Ensure that your team is fit to manage the current and future needs of the business through their development and by creating opportunities to excel.
  • Resourcing the team and ensuring that the team delivers to the expected performance by working alongside your HR Business Partner
  • Coach and mentor the team's technical capability whilst ensuring that they comply with agreed protocols.

You will also provide regular accurate updates to the Head of Assays and Screening and the PMO; whilst maintaining an awareness of current techniques and technologies.

As the successful candidate you will:

  • Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and empowerment capacity to inspire and ignite others and to develop their talents and abilities
  • Have proven experience as a strong manager, ideally in cross functional teams, with multiple direct reports.
  • Have a Ph.D. in immunology and/or cancer research or related field with a minimum of 4 years’ postdoctoral or industry experience preferred.
  • Have experience working with human immune cells and knowledge of HTS environment is desirable.
  • Have experience in flow cytometry and the ability to isolate and phenotype immune cell subsets from human blood.
  • Have experience with immune cell in vitro functional assays.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines, be well organized, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
