Assay and Screening -Senior Scientist - Immunology

Horizon Discovery is a leading provider of research services and tools to support the development of personalized medicines. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative research investigator with a background in immunology and oncology to join a dynamic high throughput screening (HTS) team in Cambridge, UK. This team is focused on providing oncology translational research services to the biotech and pharma community to support drug discovery programmes that enhance the recognition of tumors by the immune system.

We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Scientist to join our fast growing team on fixed term  contract.  Ideally you will have a PhD with relevant research experience in immune cell and cancer cell biology. and be proficient in various immunological and cancer-related assays, with HTS experience as a plus. You also have a track record of independent research accomplishments.

Within the role you will be responsible for the design and implementation of experimental approaches to identify drugs with immunomodulatory activity or direct combination drug effects on tumor cells or immune cells. 

Position Requirements:

  • PhD in immunology and/or cancer research or related field with a minimum of 2 years’ postdoctoral experience preferred.
  • Experience with human immune cells is essential and knowledge of HTS environment desirable.
  • Experience in flow cytometry is essential, as is the ability to isolate and phenotype immune cell subsets from human blood.
  • Experience with immune cell in vitro functional assays is also required.
  • Applicants should have a demonstrable ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with others and have excellent presentation skills.
  • Candidates should be able to execute and troubleshoot standard protocols, develop new protocols with little assistance, and query the literature to identify and incorporate additional assays as needed.

You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines, be well organised, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
